Golden Acre Park:

This beautiful park with it's ancient woodland lies near to Bramhope, six miles north of Leeds City Centre. The park has it's own cafe, sited near to the main entrance. There is a large lake, and a smaller pool, the small pool is sited near to the cafe. At the southern edge is Adel Dam, a quite big pool and dam which feeds the Lake in the park, via Adel Beck. At the western edge is Breary Marshes, close to the main car park. Marsh Beck runs between the main lake and feeds into the marshland.

This park has abundant wildlife, wild flowers, fungi, trees, butterflies, moths, dragon and damselflies, birds including many species of waterfowl. Often seen are Greater-spotted Woodpeckers, Jays, Mandarin Duck, Common Pochard and many others.

Golden Acre Park was once a privately owned amusement park. Built and then opened in 1932 by Frank Thompsond, it boasted a swimming pool, miniature railway, zoo, music tower and a boating lake. This grand park was only open for six years before closing, this was due to World War 2 being just on the horizon. The park was taken on by the local council in 1945, who then filled in half of the boat lake. The 'Blue Lagoon' swimming pool was popular until the 1960's, before it finally closed, it now lies buried some were in the woods.
