Bempton & Flamborough Cliffs:

Habitat:   Just north of Bridlington Harbour there is a long stretch of coastal cliffs that goes on for miles. These cliffs take in two major bird watching and natural havens for wildlife. These places are R.S.P.B. Bempton Cliffs NR, and Y.W.T. Flamborough Head. The latter has many small bays and inlets, South Landing, Danes Dyke, Thornwick Bay to name just a few. Bempton Cliffs has a nice R.S.P.B. visitor centre with a great cafe, and good view points to watch the thousands of sea birds covering the cliff face. The whole area north of Bridlington is a bird watchers paradise, and is great for other kinds of wildlife as well.

Palagic Field Trips: Pelagic - referring to the open sea. A sea going boat called the Yorkshire Belle sailing out of Bridlington Harbour, runs pleasure trips round the local coastline. More importantly for bird watchers, this company run two and a half hour bird watching trips as far north as Bempton Cliffs. These trips hug the coastline and there are great scenic views of Flamborough head and the cliffs at Bempton. Many birds can be seen on these trips including birds on the sea, in the air and in large groups on the cliff face. There are many bird species to be seen, including Northern Gannets, Atlantic Puffins, Razorbills, Common Guillemot, Northern Fulmar and many more. Occasionally rarer birds are sighted such as Manx Shearwater's, rare gulls, and although very rare you might catch sight of an Albatross.
