Black-footed Penguin:

Habitat: This flightless bird is also known as the African Penguin, Cape Penguin and South African Penguin. It is only found in South Africa. These penguins feed on various creature that they forage from the sea.

Breeding: This is the only penguin to breed in Africa, and nests in large colonies on the Penguin Islands off south western coast of Africa. Nesting takes place in guano burrows, or in the sand under boulders and bushes. Nests are merely a scrape in the ground, females lay two large, ovular white eggs. Incubation happens after about forty days, and parents stay for about three weeks to care for them. After which they return to the sea to feed, and return periodically to feed the chicks. Many young die by exposure, or are picked off by predators.

Comment: This bird is only found on the south western coast of Africa, on a group of twenty four islands. These islands are situated between Namibia and Algoa Bay, near to Port Elizabeth.
