Status: Resident in UK. Wing Span: 38mm to 48mm. Flight Period: June and July. Habitat: Bushy places such as open wood land, commons, hedgerows, gardens and parks, where Birch, Elm, Hawthorn, Sallow and Blackthorn. Comment: This species is widely distributed through out the British Isles, how ever it is not a common moth. |

Status: Resident in UK. Wing Span: 43mm to 53mm. Flight Period: May Habitat: It is mainly an inhabitant of deciduous woods, some times found in gardens with tree's, and the food plants. Comment: Common, and wide spread over much of the UK. Melanic forms of this moth are recorded from Cannock Chase, and nearby in Staffordshire. |
