Status: Resident in UK. Wing Span: 35mm to 43mm. Flight Period: June and July. Habitat: Woodland, orchards, parks, gardens and places with trees. Comment: Wide spread and fairly common in England and Wales, with except the far north of England where scarce. It maybe a resident in south Scotland, doubtful Irish records. |
Dark and Grey Dagger ag.
These two species are so similar, it is virtually impossible to identify the adults. DNA sequencing, or examination of the genitalia is require to determine which species is which. The caterpillars of the two species however are quite different, and easy to identify. . |
