The Robin:

UK Status: Resident.

Habitat: This is probably most peoples favourite garden bird, and often adorns the front of Christmas cards. There can't be many gardens in the UK that have not had a resident, or visiting Robin. Robins apart from gardens liked wooded places and can be found in hedgerows, woods, heaths and many other places with trees and shrubs.

Breeding: This bird is renowned for nesting in all sorts of odd, and peculiar places. They will use nest boxes, kettles, flower pots etc, provided they are a few feet above the ground, and have good cover. Sometimes nests a built in ivy or in the side of grassy banks, or hillocks. Nests are a shallow cup of straw, or grass, dead leaves and moss, lined with animal hair. Robins lay four to six off white eggs, speckled with reddish brown streaks, eggs per clutch, There can be two, or three broods each season.

Comment: Fairly common throughout the British Isles.
