Blackbird:

UK Status: Resident.

Habitat: The Blackbird is common in gardens, parks, thick hedgerows and almost any place with suitable shrubs for nesting.

Breeding: Males and females of this species differ in appearance (sexually dimorphic). Their nests are usually deep in some dense hedgerow or bush. Nests are deep cups made of straw and grasses woven together. There are usually between three to five eggs per clutch, and two, or possibly three broods each year. Eggs are of a greenish colour, speckled and blotched with brown.

Comment: This well loved small garden bird is found throughout most of the Eurasian region. In the British Isles it is quite common, being well distributed and found as far north as the most northerly Scottish Isles.
