Passion Flower:
Habitat:
These plants are to be found all over the neotropic regions, and there
are many different species of Passion Flowers. Most of the species are
found on the American continent, from South America, Central America and
Mexico, through into the United States.
Breeding:
This has proved so popular a plant, that there are many plant nurseries
propagating these plants as decorative garden flowers. They are also
cultivated for their fruit, the taste of which reminds me of Peaches.
Comment:
The term 'Passion Flower', doesn't refer to a specific species, but is
actually a tribe of very similar looking plants. Many butterfly species
will nectar on these delightful blooms, as well as Humming-birds. There
are many species of Lepidoptera larvae which feed on the leaves of the
plant.
