Emerald Dove:  

UK Status: Non resident, introduced to zoos and parks.

Habitat: This bird is found in the tropical, and sub tropical parts of the Indian sub continent, and in South East Asia. It is a common bird in wet forests, woodlands, farmland and mangroves.

Breeding: Nesting only in trees making a scanty nest consisting of twigs and sticks. There are two cream coloured eggs in a clutch.

Comment: These Doves also have a number of different names like Common Emerald Dove, Asian Emerald Dove, Grey-capped Emerald Dove and the Green-winged Pigeon. This dove is the state bird for the State of Tamil Nadu.
